fondation louis vuitton...

visited the new frank gehry building designed for the fondation louis vuitton which is located in the bois de boulogne. what a fantastic edifice, inside and out!! i was a little surprised at how close the building was to the road but that took nothing away from its beauty.

yesterday u.s. citizens went to the voting booth, that's if they were not disqualified at the door or their polling places hadn't moved without sending notice of the new locations.

once again, americans displayed their remarkable short-term memory and the fact that many live in a constant state of denial about what is really happening in the u.s and the world. they showed their endless capacity to vote into office, politicians who continuously disregard the wishes of the electorate and merely obey the commands of the 1% or the corporations who generously contribute to their campaigns. 'giving' republicans a majority in both houses of congress as a way to swipe at president obama brings to mind the expression of cutting off one's nose to spit one's face.

people love to say, "god bless america". well they better hope there's a god because all hell is about to break loose.

the rainy season is upon us.

laundry day and mulling over why humans seem to have an almost innate need to feel superior to someone else. history provides us with eons of examples of where supposed superiority can lead and has led to, so there's no need to rattle them off.

it is curious though, that necessity to diminish others to elevate oneself. i, myself, am not exempt from the sentiment but when the self-elevation moment arises i try to honestly examine and discard it. that doesn't mean the sense of superiority abates but i try not to wear it like a cloak of honor.

there are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. 'good pride' represents our dignity and self-respect. 'bad pride' is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance.  john c. maxwell
