came across this post which, was written a while ago but never published. at one point three or four versions of this poster were placed on the sides of garbage trucks. it reads, "we are trying to do the maximum but not the impossible. the cleaners are cleaning up behind you. try not to leave dirt behind."

we all have pet peeves and littering is one of mine. as someone who has made it a point not to litter, to always find a trash can and if i don't see one, to carry my garbage until i locate a receptacle, it is difficult to watch people leave empty bottles, bags and trash just meters from a trash container. when i see unwanted items tossed onto the metro car floor or unceremoniously on the sidewalk or in the street, it's hard to remain quite without pointing out that they 'dropped something'. i do keep walking however, people don't want their 'bad' behavior pointed out.

in a city where people expect to be 'picked-up after' because their taxes are paying for the service, it is hard to retrain some to stop littering. i have actually heard people said, "i pay my taxes so they can have a job. let them pick up my trash." these garbage truck signs served as a gentle reminder that citizens have to help to keep their city clean. i don't see these signs anymore and the trash issue doesn't seem to have improved... so, am guessing that 'gentle' nudge didn't quite work.

today mark's a year since the coordinated terrorist attacks at the stade de france in saint-denis, a paris suburb and suicide bombs and shootings in paris at a couple of cafés and restaurants. then followed a mass shooting and hostage taking at the Bataclan, a music venue.

another day...

(internet photo)
Hillary Clinton won, and is still winning according to the ballots currently being counted, the popular vote!!! however, members of the arcane electoral college will casts their votes for donald trump.

the rationalizers have come forth with their platitudes, calling for the country to come together and heal. seriously?! at the conclusion of such a contentious, vitriolic, racist, xenophobic and misogynistic campaign, we're supposed to say, "oh, that was just election theatrics." when a man who is morally bankrupt, a demagogue who threatens to turn the clock on human rights and climate change is president-elect we're told to stand-down. NON!! this campaign showed us what many of our neighbors, relatives and friends really think about people who are different, immigrant, gay... and the opinions lack tolerance and justice.

following every incident, whether it be a mass shooting or police killing of innocent people there is a cry for healing. if the country was a body we would see plenty of open wounds, scars and purulent areas; a body limping along but not necessarily healthy. there is rarely a real, honest national dialogue about the problems in the u.s. we just stumble along to the next incident as they get incrementally worse and worse.

some say, "oh, he won't do any of the things he called for, building a wall, mass expulsion of immigrants, keeping 1.6 billion muslims out of the country." we already know that if Trump doesn't keep some of his campaign promises, his deplorables will put his feet to the fire and burn this mutta down. the man said what he plans to do, take him at his word until we see otherwise. yes, many people are justifiability frightened and leery... only time will tell.

BUT i'm still with her!!!

no words...

donald trump, the bigot, racist, misogynist, xenophobe, con man... a man who was publicly supported, and who accepted their support, by avowed white supremacists, such as the kkk and the american nazi party has been elected president of the united states. oh, america, what have you done?
may all the elements that are good protect the people of the united states and the world.
